Leave The Change For Hawkers

While in a public transport today, a woman on my row started begging people for financial assistance. The man sitting directly in front of me dug hand in his wallet and gave her N500, then others followed, she eventually got over a thousand naira within that short period.

Not long after that, the same man that gave this woman N500 then wanted to buy a bottled water, and the hawker had to run to catch up with us because the man wanted to give him N100 and he had to collect his N50 change first before handing him the N100.

The scenario touched me!

Immediately, I requested for a bottle too and gave the guy 200. A woman beside me shouted…Ahh, let him give you your change first before giving him money😳💁🏻!!

She looked at me as if I’m a “mutula”, a new person in Lagos wey dem never show😀. As the guy was struggling to run and give me change, I bade him good bye not to worry!

The most touching part of the story is, even when I thought we’ve left this guy far behind as the traffic had moved, he ran to still catch up with the bus and prayed wholeheartedly in show of appreciation!

You know why?? He knows the value of that money, he knows how much bottle or sachet of water he would sell running from bus to cars before getting that.

The woman who saw me as mutula eventually went speechless!

Lesson passed in the bus! Simple🤷🏾

We all feel comfortable giving beggars big money but find it difficult leaving small change for genuine hustlers.

We unconsciously encourage begging at the expense of those who work so hard, that’s why you see corporate beggars increasing on a daily basis on the streets of Nigeria

Pls, I want to use this opportunity to start a #LeaveTheChangeForHawkers campaign.

If you share my sentiment, pls share this post and spread love and encouragement for the street hustlers.

Please, next time you buy something inside traffic or anywhere from these street hawkers, leave the change if you have more in your pocket,

May God bless us more as we do!
Appreciate those in Labour..

The APC media campaign council chairman further alleged that the governorship election results were tampered with in order to add to the numbers of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Mayaki said leaders of the party were studying the result and would announce as soon as possible their decision and next course of action.

He said: “Areas where we won, they cancelled them. They decreased the votes in areas we had an advantage. They rejected our results and jerked up theirs.”

After collating and sorting of the election results, the electoral umpire declared that Obaseki won 13 local governments out of the 18 local government areas of the state.

The election was keenly contested between the candidate of the APC and Obaseki.

Obaseki polled a total number of 307,955 to defeat his main challenger, Ize-Iyamu who scored 223,619. Governor Obaseki was returned elected after polling the highest number of votes in the election.

In a related development, the governorship candidate of the APC, Ize-Iyamu has released a statement following his defeat at the just-concluded Edo governorship election.

Ize-Iyamu lost to the incumbent governor and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Godwin Obaseki.

n his official reaction after INEC’s declaration, Ize-Iyamu thanked and appreciated his supporters for their support and determination during the election just as he claimed that they “had to endure many evils including being prevented from voting”.

The APC governorship candidate said he is currently studying the results of the election and will soon announce his next move.

The details of their meeting which was held in the residence of the Yobe Governor in Abuja has emerged.

The caucus which was led by the Chief Whip of the Senate, Orji Uzor Kalu, paid a solidarity visit to Buni on Monday.

The team consists of Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Nkeiru Onyejeohca, Spokesman of the House, Benjamin Kalu, Senator Chinedu Ogah and Senator Princess Miriam Onuoha.

Senator Kalu while speaking on behalf of the caucus noted that the caucus came to show their support and pass a vote of confidence on the leadership of the Buni-led committee.

The former Governor also lauded the leadership qualities of the committee and called on him to promote transparency in the party’s activities.

He said: “We need more openness in the party inorder to promote transparency within the party because once the party has transparency in operating in all their activities, things would be easier.”

“It is easier to win an election with popular candidates. It is difficult to win elections when people are imposed. We should avoid the imposition of candidates. You are a very experienced party administrator and governor of the state and you are also very experienced in handling party matters. The caucus of the South East APC want to congratulate you, to enjoin other party members and to reassure you that we are going to work with you.”

The former governor of Abia State reassured South East APC’s commitment to improving its performance in subsequent elections in the zone.

“I want to specially congratulate and to tell you that we are solidly behind you and we shall support you in your quest to do everything transparently. It is important to have transparency in our party congresses. This will make the party have a big footing in the area. We assure you that we, from the SouthEast, shall do better in the next election than we did in past election. We believe that with your honest leadership, the party will go to further heights. How I wish you are not the governor of a state. We shall not be looking for another national chairman because we have trust in you and I know you very well and even your capabilities.”

Governor Buni while speaking appreciated Senator Kalu for the visit and restated the committee’s willingness to work with the South East caucus.

He extolled Kalu’s efforts and contributions to the party’s growth and urged him to continue his good work for the party.

Buni also called on women to take up the responsibility of contesting in elections rather than waiting to be given such position.

Other lawmakers who spoke were Chinedu Ogah of Ezza South and Princess Miriam Onuoha of Okigwe senatorial zone.

Shehu Sani Reacts As US Impose Visa Ban On Nigerian Politicians

The former lawmaker representing Kaduna Central senatorial district, Shehu Sani, has reacted as the United States, imposed visa sanction on some Nigerian politicians.

Sani in his reaction noted that the visa restriction would help Nigeria ensure credible and transparent elections.

Naija News had earlier reported that US on Monday imposed a visa ban on some politicians involved in rigging the last Bayelsa and Kogi governorship elections.

The spokesperson for the Department of State, Morgan Ortagus, disclosed this in a statement.

However, the former lawmaker stressed that Nigeria’s failure to implement genuine electoral reforms led to foreign sanction.

In a tweet, Sani wrote: “The US visa restrictions imposed on election riggers will help in the nation’s quest for transparent and credible elections by tackling impunity.”

“Failure to implement genuine electoral reforms led us to foreign remedy.”
